Filmmaker Sacha Jenkins died this past May at age 53, leaving behind a legacy in hip hop journalism as the co-founder of Ego Trip magazine and creative director of Mass Appeal; as well as his film oeuvre that includes definitive biographies on Louis Armstrong, Wu-Tang Clan, and Rick James. One of his final projects was SUNDAY BEST that covers the history of Black musicians on the Ed Sullivan show. This special screening will be followed by a conversation with Jenkins’ longtime partner Raquel Cepeda and Ed Sullivan’s granddaughter and the film’s producer Margo Speciale.
